Following the international recognition of our work with the Golden Stars Award by the European Commission in 2009, exil.arte has received the prestigeous Bank Austria Kunstpreis 2010, in a gala event, held on Feb. 17, 2011 at the Theater in der Josefstadt. The project exil.arte submitted was selected of 328 entries. Laudator Dir. Thomas Angyan (Musikverein) stressed that „not only passion and commitment are needed, but also wide knowledge: Qualities, that excel this organization and its Spiritus rector, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Gerold Gruber.“ Gerold Gruber, together with flutist and musicologist Ulrike Anton, have jointly initiated the project 'Verstummte Stimmen – Geächtete Musik' ('Silenced Voices – Ostracized Music'), in which the composer Erwin Schulhoff, in particular his Double Concerto for Flute, Piano and Chamber Orchestra, was the main focus of attention. The concerto was sucessfully performed already in June 2009 at the concert hall of the Philharmonic Orchestra Brno with Ulrike Anton (flute) and Russell Ryan (piano) as soloists. The receipt of the Bank Austria Kunstpreis enables exil.arte to organize more performances of this work. The award also secures the CD recording of the Schulhoff Double Concerto for Gramola, and it allows the publication of a critical edition of this composition, which is currently unpublished, thus guarantees a long-lasting international dissemination of 'ostracized music'.
